Weekly Meetings at Amphitheater every Tuesday till Raiders...

If you didn't already know, we will be meeting every Tuesday at 8pm in the Comanche Trail Amphitheater preparing for our Raiders of the Lost Ark event. We still have plans to transform the amphitheater into something right off the screen from Raiders, so if your interested come join in the fun. We met back on June 1st in the Hall Center for the Arts and discussed the election of our board and officers, the experience I had at the Marfa Film Festival, and where we are going with the film society. The Indy Short contest was also brought up, and at that time we did not know of anyone planning on entering. As of this Sunday I received an email from a local filmmaker who is putting together a short about a young Indiana Jones in present day Big Spring. If anyone would like to provide them with some competition, you'd better get moving, the deadline is June 25th. We viewed a short film that I bought a copy of while in Marfa called the Art Elimination Project, which was met with "mixed reviews"(I liked it I mean come on it was about a guy who destroyed all of his old art work in giant explosions). I plan on screening something at every weekend. In July I plan to screen all the short films from the Indy contest, and a retrospective on the career of Dennis Hopper, who recently passed away. Well that about wraps it up for now, if your interested in helping us with the Raiders event, come join us on Tuesday nights at 8pm in the amphitheater.
